For those of you not in the area, we invite you to QSO with us to receive a special QSL card and certificate. We will be operating on multiple frequencies with multiple modes during the 24hr window, so you should have a great chance to make a contact.

The 2016-2017 school year was the inaugural school year for K8TGR. We had a lot of fun this year, and hope to have many more years in the future. Join us "on the air" and make a contact with us during our celebration so that you too can be a part of K8TGR's history. A listing of all contacts that we make during our Tigers on the Air Special Event will be archived on our website and we hope to have many more years ahead.

How to get printed card and certificate

We will be sending out a special QSL card and certificate to anyone wishing to receive a printed copy of these items. You will be able to download a digital copy of the QSL card on our digital QSL page; however, if you want a printed copy of the "special" QSL and certification...

We Need You!

we need you

We are looking for operators to come and work the K8TGR call sign during the event. Our goal is to have multiple stations with multiple modes running for the 24 hour period. This of course takes operators, and since this is our first year... we need more. We invite any licensed Amateur Radio operator in the area to come on out and have some fun. If you are interested, please click the link below to register.

No matter what time you sign up for to operate, we will have an operators meeting at 2:00 p.m. on June 9 to go over exchange and logging information.

Register as an Operator

If you are not able to be here at the event and would still like to be a part of it, that is okay too. Below is a link where you can register your call sign and we will be looking for you "on the air". NOTE: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER TO CONTACT OR QSL. This is just to see how many know about the event and will be looking for us to call CQ.

This Year's Club Experiment

Tigers On The Air

This year, the club has decided to launch a tethered weather balloon that has 2, 5W handheld radios configured as a repeater for the payload. We will then use this to see how many 2 meter contacts we can make via the repeater. The target frequency will be: 146.650. If you are local to the Newton Falls Area, you may want to monitor this frequency to see how many contacts we make.
