June 9, 2017 - 2 p.m. - June 10, 2017 - 2 p.m.
CQ CQ CQ, The Newton Falls Technology and Multimedia Club (K8TGR) will be hosting the first annual "Tigers on the Air" special event, Friday June 9 (2 p.m. EST - 18:00 UTC) - Saturday June 10 (2 p.m. EST - 18:00 UTC) to celebrate the establishment of our radio club here at the school. We invite any licensed Amateur Radio operator in the area to come out and either work one of our stations or bring your equipment out and get it ready for Field Day.
Also, any residents in the area who would like to stop by and see what Amateur Radio is all about and what the club has accomplished this year, maybe even see about joining the club next year, you are welcome to stop and see what it is all about.
The following are the projected operating frequencies:
10 meter - 28.300
Please be advised that times/events may change (stay tuned)...
Special QSL and Certificate
For those of you not in the area, we invite you to QSO with us to receive a special QSL card and certificate. We will be operating on multiple frequencies with multiple modes during the 24hr window, so you should have a great chance to make a contact.
The 2016-2017 school year was the inaugural school year for K8TGR. We had a lot of fun this year, and hope to have many more years in the future. Join us "on the air" and make a contact with us during our celebration so that you too can be a part of K8TGR's history. A listing of all contacts that we make during our Tigers on the Air Special Event will be archived on our website and we hope to have many more years ahead.
How to get printed card and certificate
We will be sending out a special QSL card and certificate to anyone wishing to receive a printed copy of these items. You will be able to download a digital copy of the QSL card on our digital QSL page; however, if you want a printed copy of the "special" QSL and certification...
Please be sure to include the QSO Contact Information so that we can cross-reference your contact. We will need Callsign, Mode, Band, and UTC time of contact. Missing QSO information may result in refunding your purchase and us not sending your QSL/Certificate.
This year's main goal is to reach over 500 contacts for the school year, but we hope to far surpass that during the event.
If you have any questions about this event, please send an e-mail to: email@example.com
Food passes will be available for sale on-line until June 8, 2017. These are discount passes and we will have your names listed at the food tent when you come up for purchase. WE WILL NOT BE MAILING OUT TICKETS, just let us know you purchased on-line, we will have you on the list. If you purchase an all day pass, you can check in at the food tent to receive your lanyard.
For those who will be staying with us long term, this pass will entitle you to all beverages, the spaghetti dinner, the midnight snack, the pancake breakfast, and lunch on Saturday. Get the entire time covered for only $20.00. These passes will sell starting June 9, at the event for $25.00.
Yep, we are having a spaghetti dinner on Friday night at 7 p.m. If you don't want the entire all day pass and just want the dinner, purchase your ticket early and save $1. Spaghetti Dinner $7 early purchase, these tickets will sell starting June 9, at the event for $8.00.
Operators get hungry, so we are having a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. If you don't want the entire all day pass and just want the breakfast, purchase your ticket early and save $1. Pancake Breakfast $7 early purchase, these tickets will sell starting June 9, at the event for $8.00.
We are looking for operators to come and work the K8TGR call sign during the event. Our goal is to have multiple stations with multiple modes running for the 24 hour period. This of course takes operators, and since this is our first year... we need more. We invite any licensed Amateur Radio operator in the area to come on out and have some fun. If you are interested, please click the link below to register.
No matter what time you sign up for to operate, we will have an operators meeting at 2:00 p.m. on June 9 to go over exchange and logging information.
If you are not able to be here at the event and would still like to be a part of it, that is okay too. Below is a link where you can register your call sign and we will be looking for you "on the air". NOTE: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER TO CONTACT OR QSL. This is just to see how many know about the event and will be looking for us to call CQ.
This year, the club has decided to launch a tethered weather balloon that has 2, 5W handheld radios configured as a repeater for the payload. We will then use this to see how many 2 meter contacts we can make via the repeater. The target frequency will be: 146.650. If you are local to the Newton Falls Area, you may want to monitor this frequency to see how many contacts we make.
